Rhodes, Greece

The island of Rhodes was just starting to buzz. Tourists will be coming in droves, soon, but we found the island ‘natural’ and sparse with visitors. A great time to holiday here! It wasn’t our first time to Greece. Prior we had visited Santorini, Athens and Delphi. Rhodes felt greener than Santorini but lacked the awe… some newer parts of Rhodes felt like Athens… and the small Rhodes acropolis was a tiny piece of what can be seen in Delphi.

We stayed at the Sheraton Rhodes resort. SPG has this at a Cat 3 property which made it a great value to use points. The staff were genuine, helpful, accommodating, and hospitable from the pre-arrival emails all the way to giving Vivian a balloon as we left for the airport. Our Plat status was recognized with a great Aegean suite upgrade. The view was lovely. Breakfast was above average for a Sheraton and the staff were smiling non-stop.

Our time on Rhodes was centered around relaxation. Between pool time or lounging on the balcony looking over the Aegean, we took in the Old Town, spent a day on the beach, the Acropolis / stadium, and then hired a car and drove to Lindos.
