UPDATE: Final game YouTube videos posted — Video 1 | Video 2 | Video 3
Spent the weekend in Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe. The primary goal was to watch the summer high-school baseball tournament at Koshien. Ningning, Hikaru, Toshi and I traveled down on Saturday and returned last Sunday night. We packed a ton into 2 days! Take a look at the pics and map… Shinkansen (Nozomi) down/back… 5 baseball games at Koshien… Kobe beef dinner in Kobe… site-seeing around Kobe/Kyoto… stayed at the Westin Kyoto… Rokko-san…. More photos/media and stories to come.
About Mt. Rokko(ROKKOU-SAN)… “overlooks the town of KOBE which lies in southeast part of Hyogo prefecture.
As a matter of fact, Mt.Rokko(ROKKOU-SAN) consists of a number of peaks with an altitude of less than 1000 metres [that includes the ‘Rokko Peak’ (ROKKOU-SAIKOU-HOU), MAYA-SAN, OTAFUKU-YAMA etc.] that are crisscrossed with hiking trails.”
High-school baseball is hugely popular in Japan. Twice yearly teams compete in a tournament held in Koshien – the home of the Hanshin Tigers (professional team). This year we got to see 3 games on Sunday and 2 games on Saturday. Exhaustive highlights are on the Asahi site. Sunday we watched game 2, 3 and 4. Saturday we watched game 2 and 3. Here’s a JP baseball expression for you to memorize: “Chance no oto ne, pince allie”
